Book Synopsis

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

Review

Warning: This may be less of a review and more of a proclamation of love.

First off I have to say I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK. There is not one thing that I found disappointing about it. I was trying my hardest to slow down my reading just so I could have more time with it, that’s how much I loved Clockwork Prince. It’s most definitely one of my favourites.

I thought I loved The Mortal Instruments especially City of Bones and City of Glass and I just liked Clockwork Angel. In my head Clockwork Angel had nothing on The Mortal Instruments but this book has changed everything for me. I mean I adore Jace and Simon but Will and Jem now have permanent places in my heart.

Seriously, I am so elated with this book that I don’t know what to do with myself. All the characters were just wonderful and I love practically all of them. There are a lot of secrets that are revealed and we get to learn so much more about all the characters which is something I love. I like knowing more about characters, how they think and knowing the meaning behind their actions; where as I felt that this is what City of Fallen Angels was lacking because there were so many characters to follow.

Books Worth Reading:

I do have to say everyone had me scared when they said I’d need a box of tissues with me when I read the book. I thought that was a sign for something deeply ominous that would tear me apart and make me mad at Cassie. However, that doesn’t mean I wasn’t crying whilst reading it or my heart didn’t squeeze at some points because it did.

There were quite a few twists along the way which explains why some people are so happy and others are in tears. I am both happy and upset and I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in Clockwork Princess.

Truly Cassie has outdone herself and I can’t even begin to imagine what Clockwork Princess will be like because I’m in complete awe of this brilliant book.

My rating: 5/5

The best book I have read this year and I’m really happy that I’m ending the year with it

Also, if you have read this book send me an ask so I can talk to someone about this properly. I’m dying to hear how others feel.
