Book Synopsis
Genre: Fantasy fiction
What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?
Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

Review
So, if you haven’t heard of The Mortal Instrument series before, what are you doing with your life? :/ The series are about Shadowhunters, a minority race of Nephilim trying to protect the ignorant humans from the evil demons of the world. There’s more than just Nephilim and demons in these books; there’s Warlocks, Witches, Werewolves, Vampires and Faeries. At the heart of these books lies the battle of good vs. evil with the main love story focused on Clary and Jace; two lovers who just don’t seem to catch a break.
As far as sequels go, I think City of Lost Souls [Book Five] was MUCH better than City of Fallen Angels, the book before it. There was much more excitement throughout. It amazes me how much Cassandra Clare can come up with. I’ve said this so many times and I’ll say it again happily: Cassandra Clare is a BRILLIANT writer. I can’t recommend this series enough to everyone! It’s the perfect blend of magic; love; action and awesomeness. I think it’s just the twist on the fantasy world Clare has spun makes it so much more interesting than the usual fantasy stuff on the shelves today. It’s original, interesting and full of great story lines. This book didn’t really have a dull moment. Loved it all! 🙂
